NATURALIZATION RECORDS

Replacement Naturalization Certificate - The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan does not issue replacement certificates. We can only provide you with a certified, Proof of Citizenship letter if you were naturalized as an adult in our court. If you need a replacement certificate, you must contact the USCIS directly.

Replacement Copy of Name Change Order - We can provide you with a certified copy of your name change order or a certified Proof of Citizenship letter if you were naturalized in the US District Court for the Western District of Michigan as a adult and petitioned for a name change at that time. The charge is $9.00 or $9.50, depending on the number of pages, and advance payment is required. Contact us by e-mail at info@miwd.uscourts.gov or by phone (616) 456-2381, for your request. Include your new name as it was when you were naturalized, previous name before you were naturalized, approximate date of admission, and payment information.

Proof of Citizenship letter - We can provide you with a certified letter verifying that you were naturalized in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan if you were naturalized as an adult in our court. The charge is $9.00 or $9.50, depending on the number of pages, and advance payment is required. Contact us by e-mail at info@miwd.uscourts.gov or by phone 616-456-2381. Include your name as it was when you were naturalized, previous name if applicable, approximate date of admission, and payment information.

Request for Naturalization Records Search from the National Archive Center (Genealogy search)- The National Archives and Records Administration in Chicago has records for persons naturalized in certain Federal courts, not local or county courts, in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin during certain years that vary from court to court.
